Welcome to Gorokan Seniors Computer Club

The next regular meeting will be on Monday 1 December.
Welcome to recent new members Judith Duffy, Rhondda Flegg and Sandra Daniel.

Beginners classes will held on Monday (24 November). The beginners class will be run by George and Brian. Visitors are welcome.

The special class will be on Reviewing the Construction of our Slide Show.

At the last meeting Bill showed us how to capture a still image from a video. Recently Russell showed us how to print labels on CDs and DVDs. After m/t Sophie showed us how to use Word help files.

On 22 September Neville Perry presented a session on making text with photos inside it. Really good stuff! At the same time there were lessons for beginners run by Brian and George.

Once (18/8) Bill Ardus gave a talk on Burning with NERO, and Downloading and Saving a Program.

Last month Neville showed us two amazing new programs which he got off the internet. These are trial versions, but they are excellent and well worth buying. I've just bought the Nature Illusions, standard version, for $30. It's magical! The programs are:
1- Wondershare Photo Collage Studio, and
2- Nature Illusion Studio.
If you want to try them out, just Google the product and download it. Thanks Neville for an excellent presentation.

Recently Alan showed us how to download Paint from the internet. After m/t Sophie showed us how to download drivers, those handy little programs that make things work. A summary of Sophie's talk can be seen by clicking here. Just close Word to return here.

A recent talk on inserting Excel worksheets into Word documents can be re-visited by clicking here. Click on Back arrow to return here.

Last month Russell showed us how to transfer our old vinyl records to MP3 format. Fantastic! He also introduced us to Audacity, a free program for editing sound files, another excellent freebie.

Recently, Brian demonstrated the transfer of photographic slides to a computer, using his amazing invention. Brian is happy to transfer your slides to .jpeg format on a disk for 20¢ a slide, and $2 per DVD or CD. Ask him at a meeting.

Alan showed us how to make a DVD or CD video of photos, to be played on a DVD player, by Aunty Flo.

I think we are very lucky to have members of this calibre who never fail to come up with something interesting and useful. Even if you know nothing about computers, you will find these meetings informative and fascinating. Also we had four visitors who saw our little para in Agenda in the local paper.

On Monday 31/3 Russell talked to us about Using a Flash Drive. After m/t Bill showed us how to add music to our documents. Thanks chaps, very interesting!

Our new projector greatly improves the visibility of our display, and even works well with the lights on. Well done Alan!
