These instructions apply to outlook express and have been written by pipeline internet. Many thanks to Micheal Bowie at pipeline without whos help this mail server woudnt exist
Our spam detector can figure out what is spam and what isnt nearly perfectly and thats the problem. the "nearly" bit If it gets 1 wrong in 10000 and its an important email then its failed The other side of the coin is we err on the side of safety so it will most likly let a few emails through that are spam The problem with spam is not so much to identify it but what to do when you do identify it. What one person considers spam may be important to another person for example say you are the President of the kill spam association your letters would contain examples of spam and you wont want them blocked. Another problem is some people actually want these spam letters and it is a free country after all So here is our solution. We mark the subject line of email we detect as spam with [SPAM] You can then set up a "Message Rule" in your email program to detect the emails with the word [SPAM] in the subject Now your email program can detect spam messages you can tell your email program what to do with them In this example we move any emails labelled [SPAM] to a folder we make called SPAM but you could just as easily move them to the folder "Deleted Items" or whatever. Then you have the choice to read it or just delete the lot - at your convience - of course if you want spam you dont have to do anything in these instructions - just leave everything as it is now and your spam letters will keep coming to your inbox. Finally, We have put 2 webmail programs on our homepage (www.tac.com.au) These are great programs and easy to use - If you have problems with your email program on your computer you can use these programs while its out of action - They are also great to see what mail you have BEFORE you download it so if someone has sent you a 10MB junk email that will take hours to download you can delete it before hand. STEP 2. STEP 3. STEP 4. STEP 5. STEP 6. STEP 7. STEP 8. STEP 9 STEP 10. New messages tagged with the subject [SPAM] will now be saved directly to your SPAM folder. You can view these messages by opening (double-clicking) the folder called SPAM IMPORTANT : Please keep in mind that non-spam messages could end up in this folder and spam messages could end up in your Inbox. |
