There is no need to water in as with other soil conditioners.

The micro-organisms that feed on Wormtastic produce sticky secretions and humic materials that bind together to form crumbs. Mycorrhizal fungi then bind smaller soil crumbs into large aggregates that improve the structure and stability of soil.

Such soil can hold more water in the pores between and within the soil aggregates. This water retention is key to plant establishment, growth and persistence.

Higher water holding capacity also means that water percolates slowly downwards rather than running off sloping land or draining rapidly into lower profiles where it may contribute to rising ground water and increasing dry land salinity.
