Next Monday 6 September, there will be a general meeting, starting at 10.00am. There will be an interesting talk by a famous presenter. Details later.

Last Monday there was a special meeting where Sheila used Photoshop Elements 4 to repair old photos. Bring your laptop, and, if you haven't already got the software, come early to get it installed before the class. At the same time our crack instruction team will be helping the beginners. Sheila has been doing wonders with Elements 4 adding missing people to group photos. Thanks for that Sheila!

On Monday 19 July, Neville introduced us to SmartMorph and showed us how to morph faces.

Recently Neville was in the chair again demonstrating Font Twister, a very useful free program which you can get off the internet.

On Monday 5 July in the general meeting, George showed us how to stitch together photos taken in a series, to create a panorama of seamless scenery. See the photo on the Home Page. At the same meeting, Bill told us how to organise your photos. Lynette made us some delicious cakes for morning tea.

On Monday 12 July, there was a Special Meeting (as we fondly call them) where Keith continued with Creat-A-Card by the book. Worth getting up to speed with Xmas not far away (you'll need all that time to get the big Xmas Card project going). At the same time, only more quietly, the beginners class with Bill, Neville, George and Danny carried on around the corner. If you're a beginner or have some particular problem with which you need help, tap into the best brains in the business, for free! See you there!

On Monday 6 June at the Regular meeting, Danny demonstrated the free image-editing program Irfanview, and showed you how to get it (Google and download it).

Special Meetings with Beginners' lessons are on the second and fourth Mondays of each month, and the fifth if there is one (in March, May, August and November). Bring your own laptop if you have one.

On Monday 25 Jan, Russell showed us some of the differences between XP, Vista and Windows 7. Bill posed a few questions for himself many of which he was able to answer.

From February we reverted to the normal timetable of ordinary meetings on the first and third Mondays, and Special meetings on the 2nd and 4th Mondays. March, May, August and November will have an extra normal meeting on the 5th Monday of those lucky months.
Bring your laptop computers to the Special meetings.

Last year we had a Q&A session with Ruth Coulson answering many tricky questions about Photoshop. Who would have thought of a Magic Extractor? Well done, Ruth! After m/t Bill showed us how to save videos from a tape player onto a hard-drive in preparation for making a DVD. It involved the purchase of a video card to join the two machines, and the use of Windows Movie Maker© to edit the footage. Very interesting!

Last year at a Special meeting, Sheila gave a session on how to cut and paste extra people into your family photo. Just remember this - magnetic lassoe, image/transform/free transform.

Previously, Alan told us about Plug-ins to Photoshop Elements4. Russell then showed us the best way to add attachments to e-mails.

Another day, Russell reminded us about a great audio-editing program called Audacity.

Some time ago, Bill showed us how to capture a still image from a video. Recently Russell showed us how to print labels on CDs and DVDs.

On 22 September Neville Perry presented a session on making text with photos inside it. Really good stuff!

Once (18/8) Bill Ardus gave a talk on Burning with NERO, and Downloading and Saving a Program.

Last year Neville showed us two amazing new programs which he got off the internet. The programs are:
1- Wondershare Photo Collage Studio, and
2- Nature Illusion Studio.
If you want to try them out, just Google the product and download it. Thanks Neville for an excellent presentation.

Ages ago, Alan showed us how to download Paint from the internet. After m/t Sophie showed us how to download drivers, those handy little programs that make things work. A summary of Sophie's talk can be seen by clicking here. Just close Word to return here.

A recent talk on inserting Excel worksheets into Word documents can be re-visited by clicking here. Click on Back arrow to return here.

Last year Russell showed us how to transfer our old vinyl records to MP3 format. Fantastic! He also introduced us to Audacity, a free program for editing sound files, another excellent freebie.

Aeons ago, Brian demonstrated the transfer of photographic slides to a computer, using his amazing invention. Brian is happy to transfer your slides to .jpeg format on a disk for 20¢ a slide, and $2 per DVD or CD. Ask him at a meeting.

Alan showed us how to make a DVD or CD video of photos, to be played on a DVD player, by Aunty Flo.

I think we are very lucky to have members of this calibre who never fail to come up with something interesting and useful. Even if you know nothing about computers, you will find these meetings informative and fascinating. Also we had four visitors who saw our little para in Agenda in the local paper.

Don't forget, if you receive any dodgy-looking e-mails or unlikely stories, check 'em out at Hoax-Slayer here. All known myths and hoaxes catered for.

Recently Lynette gave a talk on Appropriate Handling of E-mails. This talk is available here. Please have a read of this page if you send and receive e-mails.
